Video + Flipbook, 2013

Rickshaw Queue is a video and flipbook of the ever-present line of rickshaws waiting to fill their tanks with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) at the Shivanagar CNG Pump in Pune, India. Rickshaw drivers wait for an average of 2.5 hours daily to fill their tanks. Filmed from the inside of a rickshaw, the video meditates on the cyclical nature of our dependency on natural resources and marvels at India's ability to wait. Simultaneously it gives a glimpse at everyday life in India.

In tandem the video and flipbook provide digital and analog viewings. The inherently blurred video is contrasted with the clear images of the book, which then can be physically distorted as you flip through the book.
